Sunday service at “Energie”-the Free Church in Bad Lausick

This morning the kids & I had a great time worshipping at the free church here in Bad Lausick-”Energie” (it has more of a Brethern background, seems to me alot like what i have been told CP was like a few years back. My friend, Angelica, that i mentioned in a previous post, was the moderator today & asked me just before the service if they could have me come up & tell about our time in Ethiopia & pray for us during the prayer time. This was so very special & was fun for me to do. There is a couple in the church who he is from Bad Lausick & she (Stephanie) is from New Jersey (they met when she was on a mission trip to Germany a few years back). He speaks fairly fluently english so he translated for me to the congregation. Many of the people in the church are older & I know are friends of Margit & Ali (Falks parents)-so my prayer is that they will reach out to them once we are gone.

Stephanie translated the service for me today–this was so much better than last week when i had NO CLUE what was going on! The kids also wanted to go to children’s church & they LOVED IT!! There was a high school boy working w/them who has learned english in school i’m assuming & he translated everything to the kids–they were so excited about this and proud of themselves for going alone to their classes-i was very proud of them too!

I am thankful for this morning w/believers here in Germany! Will you pray with me for this church. They are such a nice congregation of people & its so nice to see smiling faces here (you don’t see that so much out & about in the town). The man teaching today spoke on doubt & standing firm in our faith even if we have been hurt in the past or going through a tough time & to stay optomistic b/c this is a good witness to non-believers around us. Stephanie, my translator told me that here in Germany b/c there was really no religion here when they were suppressed behind the wall until 1989 that many of the older Germans that are in their later years in life especially  have trouble accepting that there is a God that is in control and is a good, faithful, and loving God b/c of all the hurt & hard times they have lived through. Would you pray for the Spirit to move here in Bad Lausick through the people of Energie.

They are conducting a week long VBS for middle school age kids the 2nd week of July & they have many local kids whose families do not attend on sundays that come-so prayers that this will be a time when the truth can be spoken boldly & the kids will have hearts to listen!

Update from Falk in Ethiopia: “Today (Saturday) we went for a hike – the first time to escape the horrible air of Addis. We went up into the mountains, reminded me so much of Colorado, just more gentle. We saw goats, donkeys, people really living like you might envision bible times. After our hike we visited an orthodox church in the mountains, which was super interesting. Then we had pizza, followed by moving our stuff from the compound to the private house. Then Kristen and Andy went to practice music, while the Andersons and I went to the Bingham compound, a large living compound and school. The boys played basketball, and Cindy showed me around. I then went running inside the compound.”

Sounds like they are resting up as they begin a very intense schedule on Monday!!

Love & hugs to you all this Sunday!
