Yippi, we’ve got our girls back, finally! They arrived safely from Langano last night 8pm at the Babagaya resort, to which Jacob and I had travelled yesterday. Babagaya is ~2h out of town, but an entire adventure away as we went on public transportation. You watch the bus driver taking risky passing maneuvers while he chews on a plant that gets him a “high” – not exactly very comforting. At the resort, we found Guavas on a tree and ate them fresh off the tree. The Jacob and I played tennis, basketball, a board game, read the book of Jonah, studied the first 5 commandments in Deuteronomy 5, and finally as rain and darkness settled in, we started to be worried about our girls, as we weren’t able to reach them for nearly 3 days. We had $20 in our pocket, and needed to figure out how to provide dinner and possibly make it back to Addis on our own, if the rest of the crew wouldn’t show up. So we settled on Spaghetti and Fanta for dinner. Just as dinner got ready, our girls and the entire crew finally arrived. We were so glad and thanked God. Apparently Langano was so much fun that they extended their time a bit more than what they had planned.

Today we hiked a volcano, which is now used as a soccer field. Also, we climbed up this beautiful tree as you can see on the picture. Every of these big trees has its own spirits, so people come and worship them regularly and smear butter on the tree… we are so unspiritual in comparison 

  1. Hi Family! I’m so glad to hear that the girls made it back and had a good time. And, although it probably wasn’t fun for Jacob to be sick, what a neat time you got to have as “men” together!:) So thankful for you BB & BS!! I love you all and miss you lots!
