Monday, July 2nd

So I bet you didn’t know that Falk & I had a little theatrical talents deep within……us either….but Friday night we found out that we would be performing one of two skits during both services at church on Sunday morning! I was very nervous, but I have to say maybe there IS a little bit of hidden talent deep down inside us—-lol :) The congregation really enjoyed listening to Falk say 3 or 4 different words in Amharic…they got a big laugh out of his pronunciations!!

This evening we had the privilege of visiting one of Falk’s students from his evening class at his home. It was my 2nd time inside someone’s home and once again it proved to be such an amazing experience. The Ethiopian people are just so hospitable! We got to meet his wife & 2 daughters. She performed the traditional coffee roasting time that is very traditional here. I can’t believe I’m saying this but the coffee was delicious. Most of you know how much I don’t like coffee-AT ALL…but everyone says even you don’t like it in the states you’ll love it here—and they were right….it was delicious. It was just a fun experience to fellowship with other believers and learn more about their stories and the Ethiopian culture. The kids loved it too. Macey especially just loves the Ethiopian women-its so neat to see her love on them and she was no different tonight :) One thing I found interesting is that after he picked us up we drove to his house. He told us we’d meet the family eat a little then we’d go out for dinner. After bringing out spaghetti & meat sauce, then a tray full of fresh fruits, coffee ceremony & popcorn we visited  for awhile, he shared his testimony then we left…it was 8:00 by this time. We assumed that after we said how full we were that he’d decided against going out to eat. We were wrong….as we left he asked where we wanted to eat and he wouldn’t take no for an answer :) –we finally talked him into taking the kids and I home b/c it was bedtime then Falk & Andy would go to dinner with him. It was a very enjoyable evening!!

Tomorrow we leave for the countryside. We’ll be traveling 4 hours out of Addis & we’ll get to experience life outside of the city. We are very excited for the upcoming days!! We won’t have access to internet, but will post pictures and I’m sure lots of stories this next weekend :)
