Fun times with Oma, Opa & Grossi

What a fun time the kids and I have had here in Germany this week :) It feels as if we all have gotten into a good routine living together and its working out REALLY nicely! Jacob actually realized this morning that we only have 1 week left and got really sad. Thursday night is going to be difficult saying goodbye  as the kids have bonded w/all the family here. We are going to miss being here a lot! After reading Falks update from Ethiopia just now, it puts into perspective how nice we have been living here and we are going to miss our luxurious living conditions & the delicious food that Germany offers :) . I am SO thankful for this time of getting to know our german side of the family better  and for them to really see our kids in action and their sweet & funny personalities :) !! We are missing our Papa alot though & the kids have said multiple times how much they miss him-so it will be nice to see our Pops again!

This week has been full of adventures and fun times …we were so blessed by a friend from the Free Church letting us borrow her bicycle  & kid trailor. We explored ALL around Bad Lausick by bike—the kids LOVED this (& I did too). Its one of those “dreams” I’ve had to be able to bike w/my kids, but the reality that “that time” has come is kinda surreal too :) –it was absolutely amazing how fast and well Jacob rides his bike since its only been 3 weeks since he learned—makes a cycling mom & papa proud :)

We rode the train to meet our cousins in Lepizig to go to a  kids puppet theatre & we got to experience first hand “Casper” the german traditional fairy tale character—

We picked MORE strawberries :)  the kids just LOVE this!!

We played mini-golf & went shopping at a pretty big shopping center-Kaufland-I really enjoy just looking around at the differences between the U.S. & here in stores-so interesting to me!

We walked around Bad Lausick & ate icecream—2x’s :)

The kids played many hours in the garden…swinging, discovering secret passage ways, going to Grossie’s  playing soccer, playing the game “Sorry”, laughing at Macey as they played “water ball” in the little swimming pool, and riding bikes up and down the driveway—so many fun memories!!!

Today we enjoyed an afternoon w/Oma’s girlfriends & their grandkids-we called it “The ladies party” (plus the grandsons J)-it was a really fun afternoon. Oma is a GREAT hostess & had made delicious desserts (the strawberry tart) was my FAVORITE!! It was a relaxing afternoon & the kids had a blast playing soccer, & games that Oma had organized. These ladies are very special friends of Oma’s & have helped her prepare for us to be here (they have all given her toys for us to use while here, or have taken time out of their schedules to spend time w/us over the month we’ve been here.) I am thankful for getting to meet each one of them!

Tonight ended on a funny note I have to share J the kids have been in a VERY silly mood the past 2 evenings-tonight we went in to say goodnite as we normally do, but tonight Opa was not here (he’s been at a meeting all day) so his chair was empty. Jacob walked over to the chair & said “guten nacht opa”- everyone started laughing….then oma told him he could sit there and be opa. So Jacob said “that means I get to make up the rules too” LOL-we all lost it, it was sooo hilarious. He then for about 10 minutes started dictating funny rules…”please turn on the fireplace, turn the lights on, change the tv channel, get me a coffee…etc etc.” It was super funny and I was so glad that Oma got to really see the funny side of Jacob!!!

Tomorrow we have a surprise day planned w/some of Falk’s dear friends, Harold & Martina, who have offered to pick us up and spend the day with us. We have no clue what we are doing, but are all excited!!

I better head off to bed so I’m well rested!! Guten nacht from Germany!!
