It has been a week full of praises for us here in Germany! In the bible we read the many names of God & how these names show His character & that He can be trusted b/c He is always true to His name…It’s always mind boggling to me as I think on the truth that our God who created the universe and holds it all in His hands is still so involved in the very details of our lives & that He receives joy from us depending on Him as we live our lives day in and day out…Praise God for who HE is:
- El Shaddai: The Almighty all-sufficient God who protects and provides
- Emmanuel: My God with me
- El Channun: My Gracious God
- El Hanne’eman: The Faithful God
- El Roi: The God who sees me
- El Sali: God of My Strength
- Jehovah Jireh: The Lord who will provide for me
- Jehovah Shammah: The Lord is There for me

Thank you to everyone who has been praying over the past week—here are a few highlights, praises & prayer requests…..
#1. Falk & all of our team members have safely made it to Ethiopia & are already preparing for their classes that start on Monday. We have not spoken to him, but from his emails he sounds to be in good spirits & enjoying his time in Addis so far. He has emailed us to say that the compound we are staying at is very nice & the kids are going to love it (there is a playground & playroom), the bathrooms are clean :) (of course falk would make sure to note this-lol) & the food is delicious & affordable (he found spaghetti for $1.50 at a local restaurant).
#2. The weekend ended on a bit of a down emotional episode for me… I’m seeing first hand that the language differences can cause problems when you aren’t quite sure what the other person is saying or you just can’t express things the way you really want, but w/Falk’s help translating we are now in better understanding of needs & expectations & we have been able to communicate well, forgive & move forward this week . :) I am VERY thankful for this- for me personally this is a HUGE praise! Please continue to pray for my relationship w/the family here that I can show them the love of Christ through my actions since we are not able to communicate on a very deep level. That their hearts will be softened to the Gospel & love of Christ for them!
#3. Here in the house we are back to the normal work schedule for Falk’s parents in their dentist practice. We have had few afternoons outings, but it has been nice to be home more. I am SO EXTREMELY proud of the kids & their good attitudes & willingness to obey the rules :) I haven’t heard any complaints & Opa has appeared to be in a good mood each evening, so I think that we have done a good job of being quiet as if we are not here during business hours :) We have enjoyed our “mid tag essens” w/Grossi ( Falk’s grandma who lives in an attached small apt to the house here) & a lot of time upstairs this week in our area b/c of rain most days during the afternoon. Please pray for Grossi’s health & endurance-she has told me thru our broken English that she is not feeling great & very tired (I am sure that she is doing more w/us around here)
#4. I had met a lady, Angelica & 2 of her 4 kids at the supermarket last week. She & her family are very involved at the local Free Church here (non-denominational congregation). We saw them again on Sunday & she was so very nice & offered us her family bus (we call van), or bicycles, her phone number if we wanted to hangout, etc. She was just so very nice…the love of the Lord just so very evident in her-this was so exciting to see & she speaks English VERY well! On Thursday evening we get a call at dinner that she is on her way over to loan me her bike w/kids trailer & an extra kids bike b/c she & her youngest son will be gone all of next week. She came over & we had a great time visiting (it was also very nice to speak English..it had been 2 days of not speaking English accept to the kids & for someone like myself who likes to talk nonstop, this is challenging for me at times) .She invited us over for playdate today-we had such a great time! They are pharmacists & they are 4th generation pharmacists here in Bad Lausick- their flat about the Apotheke (pharmacy) was amazing & very kid friendly-this was so nice. We enjoyed the afternoon w/them & “lecker” (yummy) homemade pizza :) I have really missed my girlfriends & having believers around to share w/and be encouraged by & just talk. So today was a much needed “break” for me emotionally & spiritually!! It was wonderful!! I feel once again so very well taken care of by the Lord, He knows our needs..even the little ones when we need to be encouraged by believing girlfriends!! Please pray for Anglelica & her youngest son, Justas-2 yrs old, as he will be in the hospital all of next week to make sure that a tube that was inserted from his brain to his stomach to move water away from his head is still working properly and that they can figure out why water is still collecting in other parts of his body. Her husband, Michael, will have a busy week w/work & taking care of the other 3 kids (ages 6, 9, & 11)
#5. The bicycle!!! We have a way to get around for the next week!! This is huge & Jacob is amazingly fast on his little bike-its wonderful-we went out today on a couple of little tours & there are bike trails everywhere so we are all excited for the next week. We have already planned for sure to go on evening rides w/Oma after dinner :) This is just very special times for the kids & I, & I’m so thankful this opportunity to be w/them & just spend extra time w/them! Please pray for safety :) Jacob is a new rider & a very fast learner, but we have trouble breaking at times :) That I’ll be able to teach Kayley quickly to ride her bike this week-she wants to be just like her big brother
#6. Laura-she is such an amazing daughter & big sister….her willingness to help translate for me has been so huge!!! For the first time we get to celebrate her birthday WITH HER here on Sunday-she is turning 13 :) We are all very thankful for Laura & for God allowing us to have such an open & loving relationship w/her!! She even mentioned this during the week that she is so glad that all 4 of the siblings get along so well Please pray for Laura as it is different having us here in Germany. She loves it, but it is difficult to balance her school work & wanting to be here w/us in the afternoons….that she will finish this semester of school well as she is excited & looking forward to the summer vacation!
I hope to post soon more info from Falk in Ethiopia soon, but until then I’ll continue to update on what i do hear from him & life here in Germany
We love you all & please let us know how we can be praying for you!!!
